How to Transfer My Domain Registration to GetHost from GoDaddy

Before attempting to transfer a domain away from GoDaddy, you must complete the following steps.

Step 1: Update Contact Information for Domain

Step 2: Remove Privacy Protection from the Domain

Step 3: Unlock the Domain

Step 4: Request EPP/Authorization Code

Step 5: Submit Domain Name Transfer Request to GetHost

Step 6: Approve the Transfer of the Domain Name to GetHost

Detailed information for individual steps is mentioned below

Step 1: Update Contact Information for Domain

The contact information for your domain needs to be up-to-date so that the EPP/Authorization Code can be emailed to you. To update your contact information:

  1. Log into your GoDaddy account.
  2. Under Domains, click Manage of the domain name you wish transfer.
  3. Navigate to Contact Information, and then click Edit.
  4. Review and/or update the contact information for accuracy.
    • If the contact details for the different account types are different, uncheck the Use for all contact types, and then review section type for any errors.
  5. Click Save when your changes are complete.

Step 2: Remove Privacy Protection from the Domain

If privacy protection is enabled on the domain name when the transfer request is initiated, the domain transfer will automatically fail. All WHOIS information must be publically visible in order for the transfer to go through successfully.

Privacy protection can be removed by clicking Remove privacy at the bottom of the Contact Information section, and then confirming that privacy should be removed from the domain.

Step 3: Unlock the Domain

If the domain name is locked, the transfer request will automatically fail as the domain must be unlocked prior to initiating the transfer. To unlock the domain:

  1. Log into your GoDaddy account.
  2. Under Domains, click Manage of the domain name you wish transfer.
  3. Scoll down to Additional Settings, and then click Edit next to Domain lock.
  4. Set the toggle to off. It will take a few moments for the update to show.

Step 4: Request EPP/Authorization Code

Most domain registrars require an EPP/authorization code in order to transfer a domain name. This provides an extra layer of security and protects against unauthorized transfers. To request an EPP/authorization code:

  1. Log into your GoDaddy account.
  2. Under Domains, click Manage of the domain name you wish transfer.
  3. Scoll down to Additional Settings, and then click Edit next to Domain lock.
  4. Navigate to the bottom, then click on Get authorization code.
  5. The authorization code will then be sent to the domain’s Administrator email address on file.

Step 5: Submit Domain Name Transfer Request to GetHost

Once all of the above steps have been completed, you should be ready to transfer your domain name to GetHost.

  1. Go to the GetHost domain transfer form at http://www.gethost.in/domain-names/transfer/
  2. Enter your domain name in the Find a Domain field, and select the appropriate extension (.com, .net, etc.) from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click Transfer.
  4. Review the steps on the page to ensure the domain name is unlocked and privacy protection is disabled.
  5. Click Express Checkout.
  6. Enter the EPP/authorization code you received from GoDaddy.
  7. Check the box if you agree to the Terms of Registration, and enter your contact information exactly as it appears at GoDaddy.
  8. Click Complete Order.
  9. Enter your credit card information and click Purchase.

Step 6: Approve the Transfer of the Domain Name to GetHost

After a few hours, you should receive an email from GoDaddy confirming that your domain transfer request was received. This is a typical security measure. You will need to approve the transfer in your GoDaddy control panel; otherwise, your transfer may take up to 7 days to complete.

  1. Log into your GoDaddy account.
  2. At the top of the page, hover over the Hi, Customer (your name) drop-down menu and click Visit My Account.
  3. Next to Domains, click Launch.
  4. From the top, green menu bar, click Domains > Transfers.
  5. Select the check box next to your transferred domain, and click the Accept/Decline button in the top toolbar.
  6. Choose Accept, and click OK.

You will receive an email from GetHost once the transfer is complete. If you have not heard from GetHost after seven (7) days, you may inquire about your transfer status at nitnew@gmail.com .
